“If you can’t think, walk; if you think too much, walk; if you’re thinking the wrong way, walk some more.”
Jean Giono

The Coire refuge is a municipal refuge,
owned by the municipality of Aime-la-Plagne under a public service delegation agreement.
Ideally situated on the southern edge of the Beaufortain massif, between the Tarentaise and Mont Blanc, the refuge, located just a short walk from the Cormet d’Arêches, offers breathtaking views of Mont Pourri (Vanoise). An excellent starting point for your hikes or a well-deserved stop on your treks! Built in the heart of the Granier dairy pastures, the two buildings that make up La Coire have sheltered generations of shepherds and cheesemakers for nearly a century (and perhaps longer), and today it is our team that welcomes you there.
Restored over the past 50 years to accommodate hikers on the trail, it now welcomes you year-round, with or without a caretaker on duty.

Informations
We provide a duvet, a pillow, and blankets in the summer. In the winter, the dormitories are not heated, so it can get cold even with the blankets; we recommend bringing a lightweight sleeping bag. Be sure to bring a sleeping bag liner or a sleeping bag. The rustic shelter, which relies on limited solar power, offers limited space and basic comfort, forcing you to get back to basics! There is no cell service: we offer you a chance to disconnect 😉
Whether you’re a fan of rock climbing, hiking, trail running, mountain biking, or ski touring, we’re delighted to welcome both families and seasoned outdoor enthusiasts! Stop by for an overnight stay during your tour of the Beaufortain region, for a meal, or simply for a gourmet break. Here, take some time to relax, breathe in the fresh air, and enjoy the view of the glaciers and surrounding peaks from our terrace.
Traditional, home-style mountain cuisine, prepared on-site using fresh, local ingredients. We prioritize working with our local producers: Granier beers, dairy products and meat from the Plan Pichu Alpine pasture, vegetables from the Tarentaise Valley, and crozets from Nâves…
Meal times: Dinner at 7 p.m., breakfast at 7 a.m.
Picnic featuring mixed salads: don’t forget to bring your own container and utensils. We provide disposable lunch boxes (+€2).
Meals are served in the dining hall of the lodge for guests staying in the main lodge. Service is provided at the Cormet Chalet when it is fully booked.
During the day, we also have a terrace area where you can soak up the sun, complete with tables, benches, and lounge chairs, offering a breathtaking view. We also offer lunch service daily from 12:00 PM to 2:30 PM. All day long, you can enjoy our gourmet pastries and homemade ice cream, as well as hot and cold beverages…
The mountain pasture is put to good use through the production of Beaufort cheese at the Plan Pichu site. Slopes, valleys, and other open areas are grazed and maintained by herds of dairy cows. Please respect the shepherds’ work by asking them before setting up your tent. Camping is recommended near mountain huts to minimize the environmental impact of wild camping.
That is why we have designated camping spots next to the shelter. Please reserve your spot in advance. When you arrive, we’ll show you where to set up your tent and tell you about the services available to you.
We offer dinner, breakfast, and picnics by reservation. We do not sell groceries.
